Wayne Rooney has a contract with Manchester United which extends until 2019 but taking into consideration his current situation in Old Trafford, there is a chance that the Englishman could be making his way out of the Premier League sooner than initially expected.

The 31 year old forward has been dropped to the sidelines on a consistent basis ever since Jose Mourinho arrived on May of 2016 as the Portuguese prefers to utilize other players as his main goal-scoring output.

ZlatanIbrahimovic is the current top goal-scorer of Manchester United with 17 goals in 28 appearances while Wayne Rooney has netted 4 goals in 22 appearances. These stats show just how much Rooney has been struggling in the season of 2016-17.

When the English attacker was asked about whether or not he will be completely fulfilling his contract with Manchester United and remaining with them until 2019 which is what his deal has stated, Rooney said:

‘’You want to play games. I haven’t played as many as I’d like to have done this season and you want to be back in the side. It was good to get the win and the goal (at Burnley). I want to stay in the team and that was a good start for me’’

“That’s happened the last few years (being written off). All I can do is keep working. Not to prove myself, but to prove people wrong. I answered that question in February. My focus is to reach the Europa League final and hopefully win it and to make sure we finish in the top four. That’s my aim and focus at the minute’’

Rooney earns £300,000 per week with Manchester United which is an extremely high amount of money and makes him one of the best paid footballers in the world and this is for a forward who has only scored 4 goals in 22 appearances.
